"Saint Urbanus is a patron of winegrowing and, well, drinking. The holy man inspired the name for Theresienthal’s stunning new stemware. The surprisingly different series has its main focus on tasting wine and joyfully experiencing it’s facets of flavour. But real Theresienthal design typically considers a good handiness and comfort while using it: so the cup has a little bulge on its lower end; in addition, the bulge is featured with a decent, small glass disc, shaped by the master glassblower. Both, bulge and disc provide a safer, more comfortable grip, as forefinger and thumb grasp the bulge and the disc slips between fore- and middle finger. Try it and you’ll see!
But the bulge has even more tasks: it may store some of the wine’s floating particles and it enhances the swirling. The shapes of the glasses refer to the grapes. Most impressive is a huge chalice applicable for very strong red wines (glass on the left). The same cup, however on a shorter and thicker stem, is great for gin cocktails or even for beer (see the glass on the right)!
We think that this new stemware is a great supplement to the Theresienthal collection: contemporary, whereas not breaching the factory’s heritage!"
