Manufacturing Process

Known for their unique vertical approach and sustainable supply chain, Johnstons of Elgin controls every stage of production from goat to final stitch. With the exacting standards one would expect from a Royal Warrant holder, Johnstons has honed their craft over generations and the result is one of the finest collection of men’s cashmere sweaters available today. Cashmere from free-range Mongolian herds is dyed, blended, and spun by master spinners in Scotland. From there, individual trim pieces are knitted separately and hand-transferred and hand-joined to the main knitting frame. Once the body of the sweater has taken shape, it is washed in the soft waters of The River Teviot and final touches are added by hand.
